Looking for soccer teams

I have been looking for some soccer teams and academies here in Guatemala for about 3 or 4 weeks now and I couldn’t find one. Every time that I would search for them, the ones that always pop-up are the ones that I already know or that I have already trained there. I am looking for another academy because there are some difficulties with how far my current academy is, so I am looking for another one that is closer but still at a good level as Sporta.

As I already told you, the same academies would always show up, but then I got to know that there is a U-17 soccer team from the Guatemalan National Soccer Team. So I started doing research about it but there were not many things that would appear about it on Google.

A few days ago after seeing that there was not so many information about that academy in the internet I emailed the Guatemalan Soccer Federation asking for some more information and what do I have to do get into the team. They haven’t answered my email but I will keep you posted on what information I get about it and if I can do some trials or something like that to get into the team.

Enduro tour #2

This last weekend I went with my dad to our second enduro tour ever. The first one that we went to was a really good experience because of the trails and because it was in a really cool place, a volcano. It was also kind of difficult so that was another thing that we liked about. It was not like a enduro that anyone could do becuase there were difficult parts of the trails.

Now this enduro tour was going to be starting in Tecpan, Guatemala and then go in the dirt bike doing enduro to Panajachel, Guatemala and then back. It was a five almost 6 hour ride so we had to stop to get gas and food and some drinks. This enduro was way more difficult than the past one because you had to get through rocks, rivers, places with a lot of holes on the ground and really a lot of dust (I will leave a video below for you to see how much dust there was in one place and how it disappears after).

This was by far the best enduro that I have done since when I have started riding my dirt bike. I have done a lot of enduro with my dad or in some races but this was the better. Not only because there were a lot of challenging places to go through which were very good and I got to see a lot of places that I didn’t even know existed in Guatemala.

Also something that happened during the enduro was that I realized how fun doing enduro is. I would always find it cool to do but not as motocross. But now I know that it is really cool and I am also starting to like it more than motocross. And I also got a medal in the race!

2nd IJA enduro race

Last weekend I participated on the second enduro race in Guatemala. I couldn’t participated on the first one because it was during the time in which I was traveling. But it was time for me to get back to the races again, even though I hadn’t practice much.

It was a kind of a difficult race because first, it was in a place in which I had never go to or race there. And it was a more enduro-like race with more difficult obstacles like rocks and sand. And for me it was way more difficult because since I hadn’t practice much my arms, legs, abs, and almost every part of my body hurt a lot.

Even though it was a really hard race that was kind of difficult, I managed to get the 2nd place in my category and I fell three times during the race so I think that I could’ve get the 1st place. But I am satisfied with my performance because it was my first race in a while. With the trophy I got some discounts on motocross and enduro things and one entrance for a motocross international freestyle show here in Guatemala.

This weekend I am going to participate in an enduro tour that is supposed to last around 5 hours. I hope it goes well and I will keep you updated on it next week!

Getting mentally prepared for a race

When you are preparing for a race, the thing that you need to prepare the most in is your mind.. And more if it is a very important race because you can start to feel more pressure about it. And if you don’t have a good mentality about what is going to happen or how are you going to do in the race, you may fail. So here are a few tips on how to prepare mentally before, during, and after a dirt bike race.

Before the race…

You can’t be negative about the race. You cannot think that you are going to fall down or that you will not go that fast to win or that you are not good enough to win. These are some thoughts that you should never have about the race. You have to stay positive through everything that you can to get a have a good race and finish in a good position.

During the race…

This is a time in which you will have to try to forget everything. You have to focus a lot in the race but not much or you can start to get more nervous. And trust me, when you start riding you will forget everything so you don’t have to worry much about that. But during this time you also have to be positive but not think about that too much.

After the race…

When the race is over, it is when the great or the hard time could happen. You can celebrate if you finished in a good position or you can brainstorm about what you can do better to have a better performance. But if you got a good position you will also have to do the same brainstorm to improve even more.

And then, you just have prepare for the next race!

Downhill tips… For you not to fall

Last week I wanted to try some to do some downhill with my brother. He is Guatemala’s junior champion so he told me some tips about how and what to do when you are riding. Here are a couple of the most important ones:

1. Go with the bike and relax. You have to try to let the bike go with you just holding it and not doing much. So if there is a rock or an obstacle you just have to hold on harder and you will get through the obstacle.

2. Don’t be scared. This can be the most important thing for you to do while you are riding. If you are afraid or scared that you are going to fall you are probably going to. So you need to have a good mentality in which you are not thinking about falling.

3. Check that your bike is all good to go. If you don’t do this, there are a lot more probabilities that your bike is not going to work well. And if your bike doesn’t work well you may ruin your bike or fall.

All of the tips that I said above are really important things that you should do every time before you ride or while you are riding, or else, you brakes or something can stop working and this may happen to you as it happened to me…

Honda CRF250X Review

Suspension: The bike’s suspension is really good because it is a suspension which you can change how you want it to be, hard or soft. And if you put it hard it works in a really good way as well as if it is soft. You just have to adjust it very well and it will be perfect for any kind of race or track you do.

Motor: The motor of the bike is very strong and the accelerator is right on point. Iy accelerates right when you pull the throttle and it has a lot of torque so you will not get stuck anytime. It also gets a lot of speed when you need it without losing control.

Overall: The overall for this bike is really good. I would give it a 90/100. It is not a hundred because it is actually a really big and fat bike so you don’t have some control on it. You have most of the control but because of the fat of the bike it is harder in the turns. But in anything else I would say that it is a great bike.

Yamaha WR250F first ride and impression

A couple of week ago I got the opportunity to try a Yamaha WR250F in motocross. So here is a little review about what I thought about the bike, if it was how I thought it would be.

Suspension: For me the bike’s suspension was one of the best that I have tried. It was where it needed to be. By that I mean that it was very comfortable when I was landing a jump because you wouldn’t even feel that you touched down. Also in the whoop section you had a lot of control of the bike because the suspension was soft enough that it would feel like there were no whoops.

Motor: The motor of the dirt bike was really good and powerful for me. When I started going uphill the bike wouldn’t stop working very well and sometimes I felt that I was going straight forward. You couldn’t ask more for this motor because it is very powerful and you will not feel how fast you are going.

Overall: This bike is very good both for doing motocross or enduro. You will not get stuck at anytime if you get into a ditch doing enduro or you will start going very fast without feeling it in motocross. It is a bike that I would recommend for both sports because you can adjust it very well for doing both sports.

Trying a new dirt bike

I wanted to change my dirt bike since a long time ago. I had a Honda CRF230F and I wanted to get a 250cc dirt bike to advance more in my motocross skills. So that means more power and speed in the bike and it is also a lot bigger. So when I get it I will have to get used to the bike as I did with the CRF230F.

I’ve been looking for a long time the dirt bike but I couldn’t find one that was in the price range and the dirt bike brand that I wanted. The best would be to get a Honda again because it will be easier to get used to the bike. I tried to find a Yamaha or Ktm as well but it wouldn’t be how I wanted.

But now I think that I have found the perfect bike for me. It is a brand new Honda CRF250X 2009. It is not from a recent year but the honda bikes haven’t changed since 2009. It is in the price range that I want and it is the brand that I wanted. So I will be trying the bike next week and I will keep you updated on how everything went.

Business Fair 2015

(credits: estilosaul.com)

This year’s Acton Academy Guatemala Business Fair was not like to normal ones from the past years. This year Acton got the opportunity to be in an event called “Soñe Futuro”. The event was created by Saul E. Méndez, a company from Guatemala. The event was about the Guatemala of 2021. There were a lot of entrepreneurs selling their product or their services.

In the Business Fair we started selling our product/service at about 12:30. At that time we were all very excited about selling our stuff and getting a lot of money. And everyone looked very prepared about everything that they did to make the Business Fair and their product/service happen. And I think that it went well, but I also think that it could have been a lot better.

sone(credits: publinews.gt)

Some people managed to sell a lot of their product/service. Some sold  what they had plan to sell, not a lot but not too little. And some people just didn’t manage to sell anything at all. But still, I think that everyone had a lot of experiences to learn from, and everyone is going to learn about what they did good and what they have to improve about everything.

But one thing that happened that really kind of frustrated a lot of the sellers was that there was a lot of people that didn’t have the mentality to buy anything. They were there just perambulating the area like there was nothing there. So that is another reason why some people’s business didn’t succeed. And a lot of the products from the business fair had a kind of high price, and so the people that had a buying mentality didn’t wanted to spend too much money on anything.

But getting back to the learnings and experiences. Everyone, the ones that sold a lot, the ones that sold “enough”, and the ones that didn’t sell much got their experiences and learnings. So if someone says that the Business Fair wasn’t worth it because their product didn’t succeed, it is not true, because they learned what more things to do, and they got a good experiences that they could also get a lot of learnings from.

It was also a really cool experience because there were a lot of different products/services and a lot of them were also very unique. And that is because of the imagination that all of the little kids and teenagers that participated in this had. To give you an example, there was this unique product for your phone. It is a little bag that helps you to keep your phone safe when charging. You hang the bag in your charger and you put your phone on it so it is safe from anything.

So in the Business Fair you could find things from coffee or candy to drones or vinyl records. The Business Fair is an event to get a lot of experiences and learnings so you can learn to be a real entrepreneur and you can also prepare for real life when you grow up.

Soccer 11 formations

There is a lot of formations that are really good for playing a really good soccer game. There are formations that are really weird and normal formations, that are the ones that mostly every soccer player or coach knows. So I am going to show you the best three soccer 11 formations for me.

  1. 4-4-2

This is a formation for the team to have the possession of the ball. That is why it has four midfielders and four defenders. And when there is an opportunity you get the ball to the forwards and you can start attacking more.

2. 4-2-4

This formation is for attacking when you have the ball and defending when you don’t have the ball. The two midfielders can work as defenders and as attackers. So you will attack with a lot of players as well as defend with a lot of players.

3. 4-3-3

With this formation you can attack, defend, and possess the ball when you have to. As well as the 4-2-4 he midfielders can defend and attack and two of the forwards can defend so they still have one. So you should defend, attack and posses the ball well.
