Pacaya Volcano Enduro

This Sunday I am going to be riding my dirt bike in an Enduro Tour around the whole Pacaya Volcano. It is going to be a very hard and tough ride because I haven’t ride my dirt bike in around 6 months. Because of that I don’t know if I will still feel comfortable and good while riding the bike. I will need to be careful and try not to ride the way I was riding 6 months ago because something bad may happen. I am going to be posting a video and a description about the Enduro Tour. Here are some photos:

3rd IJA Competition 2016

This past weekend the 3rd IJA race took place in Finca Las Brisas, Carretera a el Salvador. It was a really difficult place, I think the hardest race that I have participated in. It had a lot of mud because since it rained the day before and it was all into the woods so the sun wouldn’t hit all of those spaces. There were a lot of little mountains, not that little, but there was one that we had to pass and I think all of the competitors fell down a least once in that mountain. Then there was another part in the woods that there was a really big drop and then a climb around a lot of trees and with some mud. So it was really slippery and that was also a place in which I think everybody fell down at least once.

Here are some photos of the race:

Then the award ceremony was this Thursday and I was not waiting a good result because I fell down around five times. I even told my brother that he was going to win this because I saw that he did really good and he didn’t fall at any time. But I got a fourth place and he got a fifth place. Not to bad for me because of all of the errors that I made. But that means that my brother didn’t do so well. Now we just have to train more and wait for the other race for us to do better.

3rd IJA race of the year

The next IJA race is in May and it is going to be in a Farm called La Escondida that is right near the Pacaya volcano. This place was one of the places in which I won first place. Still this race is going to be really hard because the Enduro Club changed some things and they make the races a little bit harder but they are longer. There are also a lot of new guys that got into the IJA and are competing in my category.

This year there have been two races, I didn’t participated in one because I was travelling so I just had to prepare for the second race. In the second race I managed to get a second place in the race because I fell 4 times. And there is one guy that has won the first place in the first two races. He used to practice with me so I kind of know how he rides and how could I beat him but I also need to try harder and concentrate more in order for me to get the first place.

I am going to keep you updated on how the race goes and if I manage to win.

Enduro tour #2

This last weekend I went with my dad to our second enduro tour ever. The first one that we went to was a really good experience because of the trails and because it was in a really cool place, a volcano. It was also kind of difficult so that was another thing that we liked about. It was not like a enduro that anyone could do becuase there were difficult parts of the trails.

Now this enduro tour was going to be starting in Tecpan, Guatemala and then go in the dirt bike doing enduro to Panajachel, Guatemala and then back. It was a five almost 6 hour ride so we had to stop to get gas and food and some drinks. This enduro was way more difficult than the past one because you had to get through rocks, rivers, places with a lot of holes on the ground and really a lot of dust (I will leave a video below for you to see how much dust there was in one place and how it disappears after).

This was by far the best enduro that I have done since when I have started riding my dirt bike. I have done a lot of enduro with my dad or in some races but this was the better. Not only because there were a lot of challenging places to go through which were very good and I got to see a lot of places that I didn’t even know existed in Guatemala.

Also something that happened during the enduro was that I realized how fun doing enduro is. I would always find it cool to do but not as motocross. But now I know that it is really cool and I am also starting to like it more than motocross. And I also got a medal in the race!

2nd IJA enduro race

Last weekend I participated on the second enduro race in Guatemala. I couldn’t participated on the first one because it was during the time in which I was traveling. But it was time for me to get back to the races again, even though I hadn’t practice much.

It was a kind of a difficult race because first, it was in a place in which I had never go to or race there. And it was a more enduro-like race with more difficult obstacles like rocks and sand. And for me it was way more difficult because since I hadn’t practice much my arms, legs, abs, and almost every part of my body hurt a lot.

Even though it was a really hard race that was kind of difficult, I managed to get the 2nd place in my category and I fell three times during the race so I think that I could’ve get the 1st place. But I am satisfied with my performance because it was my first race in a while. With the trophy I got some discounts on motocross and enduro things and one entrance for a motocross international freestyle show here in Guatemala.

This weekend I am going to participate in an enduro tour that is supposed to last around 5 hours. I hope it goes well and I will keep you updated on it next week!

Getting mentally prepared for a race

When you are preparing for a race, the thing that you need to prepare the most in is your mind.. And more if it is a very important race because you can start to feel more pressure about it. And if you don’t have a good mentality about what is going to happen or how are you going to do in the race, you may fail. So here are a few tips on how to prepare mentally before, during, and after a dirt bike race.

Before the race…

You can’t be negative about the race. You cannot think that you are going to fall down or that you will not go that fast to win or that you are not good enough to win. These are some thoughts that you should never have about the race. You have to stay positive through everything that you can to get a have a good race and finish in a good position.

During the race…

This is a time in which you will have to try to forget everything. You have to focus a lot in the race but not much or you can start to get more nervous. And trust me, when you start riding you will forget everything so you don’t have to worry much about that. But during this time you also have to be positive but not think about that too much.

After the race…

When the race is over, it is when the great or the hard time could happen. You can celebrate if you finished in a good position or you can brainstorm about what you can do better to have a better performance. But if you got a good position you will also have to do the same brainstorm to improve even more.

And then, you just have prepare for the next race!

Yamaha WR250F first ride and impression

A couple of week ago I got the opportunity to try a Yamaha WR250F in motocross. So here is a little review about what I thought about the bike, if it was how I thought it would be.

Suspension: For me the bike’s suspension was one of the best that I have tried. It was where it needed to be. By that I mean that it was very comfortable when I was landing a jump because you wouldn’t even feel that you touched down. Also in the whoop section you had a lot of control of the bike because the suspension was soft enough that it would feel like there were no whoops.

Motor: The motor of the dirt bike was really good and powerful for me. When I started going uphill the bike wouldn’t stop working very well and sometimes I felt that I was going straight forward. You couldn’t ask more for this motor because it is very powerful and you will not feel how fast you are going.

Overall: This bike is very good both for doing motocross or enduro. You will not get stuck at anytime if you get into a ditch doing enduro or you will start going very fast without feeling it in motocross. It is a bike that I would recommend for both sports because you can adjust it very well for doing both sports.

3rd IJA competition and award ceremony

So a few weeks ago was the 3rd enduro race here in Guatemala. This time it was in a farm like 45 minutes away from the city in a place called San Jose Pinula.

The race was really complicated compared to the races before this one becuase it had more obstacles and you needed a lot of technique to go around the track. It was also a really big track and because of that it was really tired. The race lasted one hour and twenty minutes. We had to do six laps.

This race was the one that I managed to do better in because I didn’t fall as much as the other ones. I got a second place and I was really happy about it because I accomplished my goal that was being in the first three places but I know that I can be the first place, I just need to correct some mistakes that I made and don’t give up.

My dad, brother and me had a goal, and it was for us to be in the first three places also, like my goal but for all of us. We also accomplished it, my dad got first place in his category, I got second as I told you above and my brother got third in our category.

Almost sell dirt bike

So last week I told you that I started to sell my dirt bike, and since then we’ve had two guys that were interested about it.

The first guy was already about to buy it but then he decided that he didn’t wanted it because he was not going to use it a lot. He was about to pay the bike and get it when he realised that and decided not to buy it.

The second one is the one that we are still negotiating with and the only thing that is left is for him to go to my house to get the bike and pay it because he already said that he wanted it and that he is going to buy it.

He is going to talk to my dad to meet either today or tomorrow to get the bike and pay it.

New Renthal grips

I got some new grips because the previous one that I had were really broken and that can make you lose control of the dirt bike because that is what helps you to keep your hands in the bike.

I got the Renthal grips because they are one of the best in the market and I got the ones that have the full waffle because that ones can give you more control in the bike.

There are also this type of grips that doesn’t give you too much control on the bike because they are flat, these ones have no waffle.
